“Roland Barthes writes that photography is haunted by the ghost of painting. As a photographer, I often think of painting, mostly its' use of colour and light, as these are often two important elements in a photograph. Although photography is now generally accepted as art, there are still many that oppose this notion. The question is perhaps not if but what, kind of art photography is. Reworking the Old Masters may be too obvious a pursuit but I find myself exploring, discovering what went on before, whether I choose to use or discard it."
